OJ Simpson's only remaining co-accused has made a last-ditch application to persuade a Las Vegas judge to postpone the start of their armed robbery and kidnapping trial.

A lawyer for Clarence "CJ" Stewart filed a two-page motion asking for a delay of the September 8 trial until the Nevada Supreme Court considers his request for a separate trial.

Robert Lucherini argued it would be impossible for Stewart to get a fair trial because of Simpson's celebrity.

Clark County District Court Judge Jackie Glass has twice rejected requests for a separate trial.

A Supreme Court clerk said the judge has not scheduled argument on the motion.

Stewart is one of five men who accompanied Simpson during a confrontation with two sports memorabilia dealers.
