A NEW 'Mobile Response Service' has been launched in Mid Devon to provide support for older people at home.
A pilot non-medical support service to help older people continue living on their own has been launched by Devon County Council and the South Western Ambulance Service Trust.
The pilot Mobile Response Service is specifically to help people who carry pendant alarms or have other equipment within their home that links them instantly to an alarm call centre.
Mid Devon District Council has over 600 sheltered housing properties and over 600 lifeline customers living in their own homes in the Mid Devon area and all can access this service.
Until now, ambulances have often been called out to non-medical situations.
A Mobile Response Service, with equipped and trained staff will respond to call outs triggered by the alarm call centres, freeing up ambulance staff to attend emergencies.
