BAD weather has caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to cars parked overnight in a North Devon seaside town.
Waves from a storm smashed unattended parked cars into one another at Cheyne Beach, The Quay, in Ilfracombe on Monday (August 18).
Car owners were warned to stay away and Devon and Cornwall Police sealed the area off until 10am on Tuesday as the car park was still flooded and high tide was due.
A police spokesman said: “At least one vehicle has been written off and at least a dozen others with body damage.”
The area was made safe by midday on Tuesday (August 19).
THE proposed hillside route for the Crediton Industrial Link Road was supported by Devon County Council’s Executive on Tuesday.
THE Marie Curie Cancer Care centre in Tiverton may close to day patients at the end of March next year.
TWO people were arrested after a 62-year-old man collapsed with a suspected heroin overdose in an alleyway off Gold Street, Tiverton on Monday morning, say police.
