BOOK lovers should flock to the second Tiverton Literary Festival taking place this weekend (August 15-17). The Twyford Writers are staging the event at various locations around the town.
It kicks off at 6pm tonight at the Town Hall with an opening ceremony by the Mayor of Tiverton, followed by an entertaining monologue by Les Osborne a local celebrity and raconteur.
This will all take place in the mayorality room on the first floor of the town hall.
Following on the heels of this at 7pm in Tiverton Library, Poppy Adams, the author of 'The Behaviour of Moths' which was serialised on BBC Radio 4 in May will be there to talk about her books and the writing process and take questions.
Tickets for her talk are £2 and are available from Tiverton library.
On Saturday there will be a Short Story writing workshop by Twyford Writers veteran, Pete Belcher.
At 11am Matt Chamings, children's author, will be in the library to read to the children and give a brief talk. At 1pm Cathie Hartigan an Exeter based lecturer and writer begins a second workshop in Tiverton library on advanced fiction writing.
The focus of the festival moves location to the Extension hall at St George's Church on Fore Street in Tiverton.
Where at 2pm the first of a group of authors will arrive to share their books and experiences including Elizabeth Diamond and Jane McLaughlin.
There will be much more over the weekend including an open mic night in the Racehorse Pub, a Bookworm Pub Quiz and a special Literary Festival Book Fair.
